For all of you impatient people, here’s the real debut album of the Tellers, titled ‘Hands Full of Ink’,
it will be out all over Europe on october 2nd.
Maybe you already had the chance to catch ‘Hugo’ on their myspace page, this is the first single taken from this album – in the meantime this tune landed on the playlists of all good belgian radios Pure FM, la Première, Studio Brussel & Radio Eén & Twee !
This exciting and inspired album brings the band frankly further than the easy comparisons, the ‘they sound like the Lib…’ kind of things. Just a couple of months after their 7track EP’s release, this young duet from south of Brussels delivers a solid collection of songs, sixteen in total.
They’ve got instant pop tunes, acoustic laidback ballads (their trademark already), rock songs too, groovy numbers, daring arrangrments and absolute lo-fi sound sometimes, it is plain to see that Ben et Charles had fun while recording and that their intention was not to stick to their sparse acoustic sound. You can hear the faraway echoes of the Kinks, Jonathan Richman, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, the Clash, the Mamas & Papas, Syd Barrett or Blur…
This album was recorded and mixed in march april and may 2007 by the same team as for the EP , labelmate Fabrice Detry of Austin Lace and the Brussels based Aussie, Peter Crosbie.
In the meantime Ben and Charles are a little older (21 & 20 now) and they have a lot of experience behind their back since their ‘Second Category’ was first broadcasted. Their EP - or should I better say mini-album – has been warmly welcome throughout Europe following their signing on 62 TV & Cooperative Music, they played their native Belgium of course but also Holland, France, Germany and Scandinavia. They set up a live 4-piece band, they got Europewide Canon commercial campaign on Tv with their ‘Second Category’ . Oh yes and they composed and recorded this album.
